Schools (Primary and Secondary)

Cultural learning & bushfood cooking for primary & secondary students

Bring the classroom to life with curriculum-aligned learning that connects students with First Nations food systems and ecological knowledge. From science and geography to cooking and culture, My Dilly Bag supports teachers to embed Indigenous perspectives into everyday learning in practical and meaningful ways.

These experiences are hands-on, sensory and age-appropriate, inviting students to taste, touch, smell and explore native ingredients while learning where they come from and why they matter. Through storytelling, practical activities and shared food experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of Country, sustainability and the knowledge systems passed down through generations.

Bushfood Education Workshops

Bush Tucker Yarn & Tasting Table(P-Year 6)

A guided cultural yarn introducing students to Australian bushfoods, their traditional uses, and their connection to Country. Delivered in an engaging, age-appropriate way, this interactive session invites students to see, smell and taste native ingredients. The experience can be presented to a single class or scaled for year levels or whole-school groups.

Bushfood Cooking Demonstration (Year 7-9)

A live cooking demonstration showcasing how native ingredients can be used in everyday dishes. Demonstrations may include kangaroo nachos and native mocktails, using My Dilly Bag products. Students observe, learn, ask questions and enjoy tastings where appropriate.

Hands on cooking session with Bushfoods (Year 10-12)

Designed for Food Technology and Hospitality students, these practical, hands-on sessions focus on the preparation of two dishes using Australian native ingredients. Students explore flavour profiles, ethical sourcing and contemporary uses of bushfoods while developing practical kitchen skills. Schools can work with us to design a native high tea or a themed menu for a special occasion or school event.
