Make Your Mark: Carve Your Own Lino Stamp & Create Wearable Art

Hosted by: Renée Mead — Murri Girl Designs

Date/time: Saturday 5 December 2026 | 9.30 am – 12 noon
Location: My Dilly Bag, 5B/354 Mons Rd, Forest Glen QLD
Duration: 2.5 hours

Come along for a fun, hands-on creative workshop with contemporary First Nations artist and designer Renée Mead from Murri Girl Designs.

Learn how to carve your own lino stamp and use it to give new life to clothing you already have in your wardrobe. You’ll create your own unique design, print it onto two supplied tote bags, and then have the opportunity to stamp and upcycle a garment of your own.

This workshop is all about getting creative, experimenting and having fun while exploring ways to turn old or unwanted clothing into something new and uniquely yours.

About the workshop

Renée will guide you through the basics of designing and carving a lino stamp, including how to transfer your design onto lino and safely carve your image ready for printing.

You’ll then explore how to use your handmade stamp to create repeat patterns, marks and designs on fabric.

Each participant will:

  • Create their own 10 x 7cm lino stamp
  • Carve and print their design
  • Receive 2 cotton tote bags to print and take home
  • Take their hand-carved lino stamp home to use again
  • Bring along a garment from their wardrobe to upcycle and transform
  • Learn simple techniques for giving an old garment a new life through print

Your design can be simple — think symbols, shapes, lettering, patterns or imagery that has meaning to you.

What to bring

  • A garment you would like to upcycle and stamp — such as a jacket, shirt, pants, denim piece or other suitable clothing

  • Your creative ideas and willingness to experiment!

Suitable for

  • Beginners

  • Anyone interested in lino carving, printmaking, fashion or upcycling
  • No previous printmaking experience is required
