Weave your own Coolamon with Hannah Goanna
Indigenous Weaving Workshop with Hannah “Goanna”
Join Hannah “Goanna” from Yuluwirri Weaving for a relaxed and culturally enriching two-hour weaving workshop at My Dilly Bag.
Participants will learn foundational First Nations weaving techniques while creating their own Coolamon-inspired basket to take home. Inspired by the traditional coolamons carefully shaped from tree bark, Hannah will share stories about their cultural significance and the many ways they have been used for carrying food, gathering bush materials and caring for babies.
The workshop offers an opportunity to slow down, connect and learn about weaving as a sophisticated expression of First Nations culture, creativity and technology. No previous weaving experience is needed, and Hannah will guide participants through each stage of the process.
All weaving materials are included.
